Taylor Swift releases “Folklore”, a surprise 8th album
Taylor Swift surprised her fans (and the entire Twitter community) by delivering her 8e album, this Thursday. A surprise release which did not fail to get people talking, and which took its followers by surprise. Soberly called “Folklore”, the new album was quickly taken by storm upon its release. If the fans were taken by surprise, it is above all the sound adopted by the singer which has people talking. Folklore is radically different from what Taylor Swift has released previously. The singer moves away from pop, and moves closer to folk and indie.
The opus thus seems to mark a major turning point in the blonde’s career. A change that was noticed on iTunes, which classified the album in the “Alternative” category. The superstar thus finds himself classified among groups and artists with whom you would not necessarily associate his name. Among them, the opus of Devendra Banhart and that of PJ Harvey.
Taylor Swift was quick to announce that this 8e album was already in the running for the title of best alternative album for the Grammy Awards! Just a few hours after its release, the album is already tipped to win all the awards. The public, as well as the critics, warmly welcomed it.
The Guardian did not hesitate to give it 5 stars, and to praise the emotional acuity of the singer. The album impresses with its ease of appropriating a musical style, radically different from pop where she has largely proven herself.
